About Me
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Japan, and in the United States, Associate Degree in Community health and Spanish. Currently, I do the online training for new hires on how to review content for Google Search ads, so I am confident with online teaching. I remain calm and compassionate during the lessons. The student-focused approach is important, and I use open questions to encourage student engagement. We learn a new language best when we learn about our favorite subjects. I will use Japanese videos and music based on the student’s interests. When praising students, I use specific words to help them understand what they did well. I avoid judgemental or negative words. Instead, I use humor to encourage them to make a mistake without feeling embarrassed. I am self-motivated. My motivation for teaching Japanese came from the recent news. It was sad to hear about the incidents relating to anti-Asian discrimination in the United States. I truly appreciate the new generation who is interested in new languages and cultures. Online teaching is an excellent way for us to connect the students. Discrimination stems from not knowing different cultures. I would like to make the world a better place. Through education in foreign languages, I could make that happen. Thank you.
